Abstract:

“Ms. Keshavarz loses her son, Alireza, to cancer. She is still grieving the loss of her son when her daughter, Ensiyeh, passes away shortly afterward. Losing two children in a short time is too and intolerable a loss to go through. Two months after losing Ensiyeh, she comes across the sign of an institute active in grief counseling therapy, and her life changes. She is now a volunteer with the same grief counseling foundation. On Thursday, she visits the main cemetery in Tehran to look for people who have recently lost a loved one to introduce them to the foundation. She is an ambassador of relief and tranquility.”

Volunteers are a great capital for non-governmental organizations. Nevertheless, their involvement is not free of challenges. This book tries to make tangible examples from real experiences in order to introduce activists in the field with practical guidelines for interacting with volunteers.
