Abstract

Today, in many countries of the world the non-governmental sector in general and charity organizations in particular are considered a column of the society’s structure, along with the governmental and private sectors. These complexes, particularly non-governmental organizations have turned into an unmatched element in all arenas of social, economic, cultural, political and even security and military affairs of the contemporary era. Numerous studies, researches and publication over the past two decades in praise or criticism of organizational approaches to charity and philanthropy, significant growth of non-governmental organizations in numbers across all countries of the world, the expansion of the scope of work of these organizations to non-welfare fields and the involvement of celebrities and major influential global companies in this field confirm this amazing development.  “Architects of the New Age” studies the issue of non-governmental organizations in the light of the significance of philanthropy in the future, particularly among developing societies. Adopting such a viewpoint, this book identifies fundamental concepts of generosity and studies non-governmental organizations and charities across the globe, introducing some examples of them. The target audience of this book is primarily NGO activists and those interested in starting charities. As the second primary target audience, this book addresses policymakers and governmental entities by introducing with examples of how well-known charities operate, lead, manage, and what programs they design, so that they can act more successfully in designing a roadmap and advancing their sublime missions.
