Abstract

Islamic architecture is a manifestation of the mysteries of the school of art and an inculcator of the lofty Islamic thought. Hence, whatever land Islam stepped in, a major revolution occurred in the architecture of that region; a review of the elements of this architecture can contribute to the understanding of Islamic concepts. Relying on the same concepts, the future path of Islamic architecture can be outlined according to religious fundamentals and employing Islam’s teachings in architectural structures. Reports by historians and explorers from different eras indicate that, as a landmark of pre-Islamic times, minarets were considered a part of Islamic thought since the arrival of Islam to various lands.   The identity of this structure has been merged with Islam and Islamic rituals and the numbers, size and shape of it has been designed based on the location and geographical area of the building. The increasing progress and expansion of architectural works paved the floor for the interaction of different cultures within Islam and religious architecture was introduced as an art recognized by the World of Islam, influencing other art concepts. Today, architectural structures can be a cornerstone of cultural unity in various societies and display the World of Islam as a unified religious culture.
